China: Plenary Session of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of CPC
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the anti-corruption body of the CCP is in plenary session in Beijing since Monday.
Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a speech Tuesday morning. Many senior CPC leaders attend. Among them are Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang.
He Guoqiang, secretary of the Commission, made a report calling for the perfection of the system of punishment and prevention.
According to statistics from the Committee, 4 960 official at a level higher than the district have been punished throughout the country during the first 11 months of 2008.
