China and Egypt have jointly vowed to overcome the fallout from the global financial crisis
Vice-Premier Li Kegiang Chinese and Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef vowed Thursday to jointly overcome the impact of the global financial crisis.
During his discussions with Nazef, Mr. Li urged both countries to strengthen their coordination and cooperation to this end, submitting a proposed four-point to Egypt.
He first called on both countries to consolidate the basis of strategic relations and Sino-Egyptian cooperation, which was established in 1999 to maintain a similar frequency of exchanges of high level visits and enhance mutual political trust.
He proposed to enrich the content of the strategic cooperation in the fields of energy, telecommunications, transport, tourism and explore new areas of cooperation such as infrastructure construction and trade techniques.
Mr. Li emphasized the priority of the major projects of strategic importance between the two countries and urged them to make them examples for other projects.
Echoing the remarks of Mr. Li, Nazef said that Egypt was ready to work with China to overcome the fallout from the global financial crisis, and promote the stable development of world economy.
Li also stressed the importance of Sino-Egyptian cooperation in the framework of the Forum of China-Arab Cooperation Forum and China-Africa Cooperation.
He said China was willing to provide joint efforts with Egypt to enrich and promote strategic partnership China-Africa new type and to contribute more strongly to the unity, cooperation, prosperity and development in the countries development.
“With the 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic relations and cooperation between the two countries, it is important to raise the cooperation between the two countries to a new level,” he said.
Vice Chinese Premier thanked Egypt for its firm support for the one-China policy, and for the assistance it provided after the earthquake in Wenchuan (China) last May. Nazef reiterated that Egypt adheres to the principle of one China.
After discussions, the two leaders witnessed the signing of several cooperation projects on the economy and technology, and training program in the fishery.
Li arrived in Cairo on Wednesday afternoon for an official visit of four days at the invitation of Nazef. Egypt is the second step of the first round of Li abroad since assuming the post of deputy prime minister in March. The tour has already taken in Indonesia and the lead in Kuwait.
