China will invest 150 million yuan to improve the accessibility of the disabled to information
A project investment of 150 million yuan (about 22 million dollars) for a period of three years, was launched Monday in Beijing to improve accessibility for disabled Chinese information.
The Federation of Disabled People of China, Ministry of Science and Technology, and some two dozen research institutes participated in this project.
A website for the disabled will be created, with courses in distance education and entertainment, said Zhang Cheng, an official of the Federation of Disabled People of China.
There will be a database for the 83 million disabled people in the country, stating their names, ages, addresses and health conditions.
“The government can check their online identity with disabilities who require to enjoy the preferential policies on social and medical insurance or who seek employment,” said Zhang.
