Six people died and two others were injured in a fire at an apartment Friday night in the town of Taiping in the city of Wenling, in Zhejiang province (east), said local police Saturday.

The fire started at 21H40 on the ground floor before spreading to the entire four-story building. The fire was extinguished at 23:40.

According to the information bureau of Wenling, four women and two men were killed. The two injured are still hospitalized.

Police managed to evacuate 10 residents of the building. They are currently staying in a hotel.
