special envoy of United Nations Ibrahim Gambari met with Myanmar Prime Minister General Thein Sein on Tuesday afternoon, the fourth day of his visit to Rangoon, according to diplomatic sources.

Before his talks with Mr. Thein Sein, the Special Adviser to the Secretary General of UN Ban Ki-moon on the issue of Burma has also met for the second time, the team official spokesmen of the government led by the Information Minister Kyaw Hsan, the source said without giving details.

Mr. Gambari is expected to complete his four-day visit to Rangoon on Tuesday.

During his mission to Myanmar, Mr. Gambari also met with four other ministers - Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win, Minister U Aung Kyi Liaison, Minister of Planning and National Economic Development U Soe Tha and Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Htay Oo - and the Secretary General of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi, who is under house arrest since the bloody incident of May 30, 2003.

Aung San Suu Kyi refused to meet Mr Gambari during this last trip in August 2008 after the cyclone Nargis in May and held a constitutional referendum in the country.

Other party leaders that Mr. Gambari met listed U Aung Shwe, Chairman of NLD, U Khin Maung Kyi, Deputy Secretary General of the National Unity Party (NUP) and U Sai Aung Saw, secretary the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD).

Mr Gambari arrived in Rangoon on Saturday morning as part of its 7th mission to promote national reconciliation and democratic process in Myanmar.
