46 million yuan was released last year to revive tourism in Tibet

The tourism sector in Tibet has been affected by the March 14 riots in Lhasa. To revive the sector, local government has allocated 46 million yuan last year.

Last October, the Office of Tourism has launched the largest promotion in history: the price of a trip to Tibet has fallen about 50%. In November, the Tourism Bureau of Tibet organized a tour of the United States, Canada, Australia, Taipei, Shanghai, and Guangzhou to promote winter tourism in Tibet. Also in November, the region Linzhi and Lhasa city hosted 130,000 visitors, against only 10,000 in March, the month during which the event occurred.

The Tibetan government plans to create this year a fund of 50 million yuan to develop tourism.
