Two men wrongfully imprisoned finally got justice after a court in central China has corrected his mistake 13 years ago.

the night of November 21, 1995, 8 200 yuan in cash (1 170 dollars) were stolen from the post office of a village district Biyang of Henan province (central). Three weeks later, local police arrested Zou Shujun, used the post office, and his friend Yuan Haiqiang, a mechanic in a local garage for agricultural machinery.

After a year of detention and interrogation, the district court still lacked sufficient evidence. Nevertheless, Zou and Yuan were sentenced to six and five and a half years in prison, December 12, 1996. The Intermediate Court of the city of Zhumadian, which depends on the district Biyang, confirmed the verdict.

The real thieves, Zhang and Zhang Hongxi Fujun, were arrested in late 2002, two years after the release of Zou and Yuan. But neither the district court nor the city had proposed to remedy injustice.

For 13 years, Zou and Yuan have pleaded innocent and requested a new trial. In their repeated petitions to the courts and media, they said they had been beaten and forced to confess to the crime they never committed.

The district court Biyang again hearing the case December 30, 2008, and said both men were innocent.

Zou and Yuan should receive full compensation of 360 000 yuan, according to a compensation agreement with the State District Court.
